Every car prepared in our own workshop

Every car we take in goes through a documented health check at Prepworks, our own in-house preparation centre. Based on that check the car is graded either Retail or Trade and prepared to the standard for its grade before handover. Because the workshop is ours, we set the standard and control the timing rather than waiting on a third party. The check is written down and becomes the car’s condition report, so you can see exactly what was inspected and what work was carried out. Ask us for it on any car in stock.

It is based on age and mileage. A car is graded Retail if it is under 12 years old and under 120,000 miles. Anything outside that is graded Trade. Retail cars get our full retail preparation: a service, an MOT with the work behind every advisory carried out, dents removed, damaged panels painted, stone chips touched in, alloy wheels refurbished where needed and a full valet. Trade cars are MOT tested, serviced under the same rule, function checked throughout and given a car wash valet, without the cosmetic work. Every car is clearly listed as one or the other.

Yes. Every car we sell is MOT tested before it is handed over, retail or trade. On retail graded cars we also carry out the work behind each MOT advisory, so it is fixed rather than left on the certificate as a list of known jobs waiting for you. On servicing the rule is the same for both grades: if the last recorded service was more than three months or 3,000 miles ago, the car gets a fresh major or minor service before handover. If it was serviced more recently than that we will show you the existing record.

Yes. Every car we sell to a private buyer, retail grade or trade grade, comes with three months of Warranty First cover as standard: a £750 plus VAT claim limit and labour paid at £75 an hour including VAT. Claims go straight to Warranty First, so you are not waiting on us. If you want longer cover, ask before you buy. The warranty page explains the cover and how to make a claim. Cars sold to the motor trade through our trade sales are sold without warranty.

Yes. The Drivers Gallery is an AA Approved Dealer, which means we work to the AA Cars Standards, and every car we sell to a private buyer comes with free AA breakdown cover for 12 months or until your first call-out, whichever comes first. How to activate it.

Yes to both. Bring your car with you and we will appraise it while you look round, so you have a firm figure before you commit to anything. Outstanding finance is completely normal and we deal with it every day. You will need a settlement figure from your lender, and we handle the settlement with them directly so you are not chasing it. If your car is worth more than the settlement, the difference goes towards your next car. Bring your V5C, both keys and any service history, as all three affect the value.

If you would rather sell outright, The Used Car Buyers, our own buying arm, will value it and pay you on collection.

Yes. The Drivers Gallery Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority as a credit broker, Firm Reference Number 1014981. We are not a lender. We can introduce you to a limited panel of carefully selected finance providers. We act on a non-advised basis, which means we do not give financial advice or recommend a particular product; you decide what is suitable for your circumstances. We do not charge you a fee. We may receive a commission from the lender, and the details are disclosed to you before you enter into any agreement. Finance is subject to status and affordability. Both. You can reserve any car on the site online with a £250 reservation, which takes it off sale while you arrange finance, insurance or a day off work. Delivery is handled by Trade Logistica, our own transport division, so your car travels on a proper transporter rather than being driven to you on its own wheels. Cover is up to £200,000 per vehicle in transit, with live tracking and photographs at collection and delivery. If you would rather collect, we will have the car ready and valeted at Bromsgrove.

Yes, and to the trade only. Not every car we buy fits what we retail from the forecourt. The ones that fall outside our parameters, on age, mileage, spec or the work they need, are sold to motor trade buyers rather than to the public. If you are a dealer, trader or garage, register on our Trade Cars page and we send them to you as they come in, with the health-check findings and the trade price. Collection from Bromsgrove or delivery anywhere in England, Scotland and Wales by Trade Logistica. Trade sales are made to the motor trade as trade sales, without warranty or AA cover.
